Working in concert with the project’s engineers, planner and marketing team, Woodburn & Company provided landscape architectural design services for the Portwalk development as well to create this Street Activation Plan. The street activation plan addressed the addition of uses that would contribute to a livelier and welcoming street character as well as support the residents with “everyday commercial needs”. Areas for café seating were added as well as neck downs for safe pedestrian connections. Connections to adjacent properties were considered and varied types of street tree plantings break up the sidewalk into separate experiences reflecting the adjacent uses. Creating identity and sense of place for this newly constructed development this plan provides the next level of street detail.
