As part of the Jackson’s Landing Master Plan Committee Woodburn & Company assisted in creating a Master Plan for the Jackson’s Landing recreation area. Jackson’s Landing is currently the site of the town hockey rink, boat ramp, toddler play area and the University of New Hampshire and Great Bay rowing clubs. The area had a severe erosion problem, with run-off from the site scouring the gravel entry road and depositing gravel in the Oyster River, during each rain event. In addition, parking for the hockey rink was informal and unsafe, while the parking area for the boathouse was one large gravel lot located within feet of the river.
Working with community groups, through numerous public hearings, a Master Plan was developed. The plan addressed the erosion problems, relocated the parking away from the river, added turf and landscaping along the riverfront, as well as provided an accessible trail system and other hiking paths. The Jackson’s Landing Master Plan unified this disparate group of facilities into a safe, handsome and environmentally sustainable recreation destination.
Woodburn & Company provided pro-bono services for this project.
